Artifex is a Latin word meaning artist, creator, author, maker, craftsman, and master of an art.
We chose the name because every piece of art begins with an Artifex, the person who creates it.
Before there is a song, there is a songwriter. Before there is a film, there is a filmmaker. Before there is a photograph, there is a photographer. Before there is a story, there is a writer. Before there is art, there is an artist.
That creator is the reason Artifex exists.
Artists spend weeks, months, and sometimes years bringing art into the world. They create because something inside them has to come out. They share their art because they want others to experience it, connect with it, learn from it, enjoy it, and be moved by it.
And they deserve to be compensated for the value they create, just like anyone else.
But too often, sharing art comes with fear. Will my art be shared without me? Will someone use it without permission? Will someone else get the audience, the credit, the leverage, or the money? Will I have to fight alone to prove what I created?
Artifex was created by creators to help eliminate those fears by protecting both the artist and the art.
Artifex exists so artists can share their art with confidence, knowing proof, permission, and evidence can move with it.
Artists Were Never Meant To Live In A Cage. Neither Was Their Art.
